The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has apprehended 27 individuals attempting to impersonate others in the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME). According to JAMB spokesperson Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the board has taken decisive action against these cheating attempts.
In a separate incident at Caleb University, JAMB addressed unauthorized restrictions on candidates wearing hijabs, swiftly resolving the issue and apologizing to affected candidates. The Vice-Chancellor of the university condemned the actions of an overzealous security officer responsible.
To combat cheating, JAMB launched decoy websites mimicking those of fraudsters, exposing at least 180 candidates who paid for leaked questions and fake score upgrades. Additionally, four Computer-Based Testing (CBT) centers in Abuja were delisted due to failing standards.
Delisted Centers:
- Adventure Associate: Located behind Sheshe Supermarket off Hadejia Road, Kano
- Saadatu Rimi College of Education: Zaria Road, Naibawa, Kano
- Penta M & F Technical Services Ltd., Centre 1 & 2: 96km Sokoto-Jega Road, Tambuwal
Candidates scheduled to take exams at these centers must reprint their notification slips immediately. JAMB commends 883 centers for exceptional performance and warns that any center failing to meet standards will be blacklisted.
As of April 25, 2025, over 900,000 candidates have completed the UTME out of 2,083,600 registered ¹.
