JAMB NEW RULE; CANDIDATES ALREADY IN SCHOOL MUST WITHDRAW BE RETAKE OF UTME

JAMB’s new rule means anyone already holding a place in a university, polytechnic, or college can’t sit the 2026 UTME unless they officially withdraw from that programme and submit proof of that withdrawal. The board says you can’t run two courses at the same time, so you’ll need to:

  • Check your current admission status on JAMB CAPS (or via your school’s portal).
  • Submit a formal withdrawal letter to your current institution and obtain a signed, stamped confirmation.
  • Upload the withdrawal evidence to your JAMB profile before you register for the UTME.
  • Keep a copy of all documents for your records and for any future verification.

If you skip any of these steps, JAMB will mark you as ineligible, and you could lose both admissions or face sanctions. So, act early—confirm your status, withdraw properly, and upload the proof well before the registration deadline.
